Moving Onto College Virtual Summit

Moving Onto College is a Virtual Summit featuring expert guest speakers in areas of wellbeing and resilience for 1st years starting college

Next Step Forward is delighted to host this Virtual Summit for 1st years starting further education in colleges, universities, PLCs and apprenticeships. The virtual summit will be held on Zoom Webinar. A zoom registration link will be sent out 48 hours before the virtual summit to all that have purchased their ticket.

Next Step Forward is a proud participant in the Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Ideas Academy where they identified Next Step Forward's Post-Primary to College School Transitioning Workshops as a BIG idea that could help Ireland. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 and with the uncertainty of the Leaving Cert/A Levels this year we did not get to run our workshops.

So, we came up with the idea of this Virtual Summit, 3 hours of College Chats with expert speakers in all things that will help you to fill your resilience tool kit before you embark on your college life. This year is going to be a little different so we want to make sure that you know the basics from the experts on self-care, digital wellbeing, financial wellbeing, drugs and alcohol awareness, consent and relationships and stress management. We want to give you the best opportunity to put your Next Step Forward and every step thereafter. So book your ticket and sit back and relax in a no pressure environment and pick up some tips and hacks for a smooth move into your new college life.

Dorothy, owner of Next Step Forward and the host for this event. Dorothy is passionate about helping people through times of change in their life. She is a resilience expert and has put together this virtual summit to give you the best emotional start to college life.

Nicole from Alex's Adventures will chat to you about drugs and alcohol and increase your awareness as you embark on 1st year college life.

Carrie from Quokka Wellness is an expert in digital distraction and as college life will be blended this year, it has never being more important to practise digital wellbeing.

Una from Anu Change who will help you plan how to manage your college spending and chat to you about about financial wellbeing

Jenny from Life Connections will talk to you about the 3 Cs-Connections, Communication and Consent

Niamh from In Wellness will take to you about Self-Care needed for busyness of College Life

There will be two 15 minute breaks in the virtual summit.

Webinar will be available on playback for all registered attendees for 7 days post event.

Next Step Forward
The objective of the workshop is to enable students to begin to take ownership of their personal wellbeing and resilience through identifying stressors and establishing a plan for interventions for themselves that they can maintain while they make the school transition and beyond.
